Phyllis was the oldest of three children born to Albert Frank Kingston Mansell (1878-1930) and Una Isabel Taylor (1879-1962)


On 12th July 1934 she married Hector Mackie (1902-1970) at Holy Trinity, Anglican, Dulwich Hill NSW. Their two children are still living, as are six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
